The Long Island Maritime Museum was founded in 1966 and is located on the West Sayville waterfront. Once part of the Meadowedge estate of Mr. and Mrs. Anson Hard, is now comprised of fourteen acres and nine historic buildings. The Long Island Maritime Museum mission is to Preserve Long Island’s maritime history for educational purposes, the Museum has been welcoming visitors from all over the world for over 40 years. Inside the Museum visitors can take a look at the history of the industry, people, as well as the changes that occurred as it relates to the Great South Bay today.

Directions: From Sunrise Highway Heading East OR West .... Take exit 49 to Lakeland Avenue. Head south at first light onto Lakeland Avenue. Drive 1.6 miles. Drive over the LIRR railroad tracks. Lakeland Avenue becomes Railroad Avenue. At the traffic light in downtown Sayville, continue straight (south) Railroad Avenue becomes Gillette Avenue. The Common Ground park will be on your right in less than 0.1 mile.
