The Islip Arts Council provides a diverse audience with activities which encompass both presentation and service to the Arts field. Its presentations cover a variety of disciplines ranging from fine classical music to young persons' programs to avant garde "performance art".

Jazz Fest 2010 - East Islip

Sponsored by the Islip Arts Council. This 3-day festival will be held in the Rotunda and Music Space at the East Islip Library from Friday night at 7 PM thru Sunday at 5 PM. There will be a reception Friday evening - Opening Night and there will be refreshments available throughout the weekend with special guests and more.

  • Friday, October 1 @ 7pm - Ray Anderson Quartet Rooted in the jazz tradition, the group plays a wide variety of both original and classic compositions showcasing the glorious swing and many different moods of jazz in the 21st century. The group will be playing a series of compositions inspired by photographs.

  • Sunday, October 3 @ 1pm - Janine DiNatale Quartet - Janine DiNatale's versatile style lends itself to a variety of music. She has performed locally at the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts, Islip Arts Council Summer Concert Series, and Second Avenue Firehouse Performance Space and Gallery, in Bay Shore. The repertoire for Jazz Fest will be from the Jazz standards "book" along with other various covers created to work with a jazz group -- a good mix of Jazz ...both old and new.
  • Sunday, October 3 @ 2pm - Mike Capobianco and friends - Jazz piano in the traditional musicality that can mesmerize audiences with quality music
  • Sunday, October 3 @ 4pm - Eddie Barbash - the next generation of artist. Grandson to the founder of the Islip Arts Council Lillian Barbash. A gifted saxophonist that can warm your heart. Hear him play and be astounded at what this young musician can do! Eddie will be playing along with two friends... music inspired by a blues/jazz infusion.
  • Sunday, October 3 @ 5pm - Joel Sikowitz' Dixieland Band - The Joel Sikowitz Swing Orchestra has been entertaining Long Islanders for over 30 years. The orchestra has a sparkling sound of a swing band playing the music of Broadway, the Great American Song Book and New Orleans Dixieland, which is featured at the Islip Arts Council Jazz Fest.
