Jazz Fest 2010 - East Islip
Sponsored by the Islip Arts Council. This 3-day festival will be held in the Rotunda and Music Space at the East Islip Library from Friday night at 7 PM thru Sunday at 5 PM. There will be a reception Friday evening - Opening Night and there will be refreshments available throughout the weekend with special guests and more.Time:
- Friday, October 1 @ 7pm - Ray Anderson QuartetRooted in the jazz tradition, the group plays a wide variety of both original and classic compositions showcasing the glorious swing and many different moods of jazz in the 21st century. The group will be playing a series of compositions inspired by photographs.

Napoleon Revels Bey - New Mo Swing "Al-Andalusia to Dizzy" The Roots of Rhythm with Bryan Carrott-Vibebraphone, Misha Tsyganov-Piano, Paul Ramsey - Bass, Carl Bartlett Jr.-Reeds, Neal Clarke-Percussion - Saturday, October 2 @ 3pm - Rey Burns' Crossroads - Rey Burns' Crossroad is an eclectic group that plays a wide range of music. A lively and inspirational string quintet with a rhythm section that brings a refreshing blend of jazz and Latin sounds, as well as jazz standards. " says author/radio host Ben Fong-Torres, former senior editor of Rolling Stone Magazine. He's talking about pop/jazz vocalist/songwriter Jenna Mammina.
- Sunday, October 3 @ 1pm - Janine DiNatale Quartet - Janine DiNatale's versatile style lends itself to a variety of music. She has performed locally at the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts, Islip Arts Council Summer Concert Series, and Second Avenue Firehouse Performance Space and Gallery, in Bay Shore. The repertoire for Jazz Fest willbe from the Jazz standards "book" along with other various covers created to work with a jazz group -- a good mix of Jazz ...both old and new.
- Sunday, October 3 @ 2pm - Mike Capobianco and friends - Jazz piano in the traditional musicality that can mesmerize audiences with quality music
- Sunday, October 3 @ 4pm - Eddie Barbash - the next generation of artist. Grandson to the founder of the Islip Arts Council Lillian Barbash. A gifted saxophonist that can warm your heart. Hear him play and be astounded at what this young musician can do! Eddie will be playing along with two friends... music inspired by a blues/jazz infusion.
- Sunday, October 3 @ 5pm - Joel Sikowitz' Dixieland Band - The Joel Sikowitz Swing Orchestra has been entertaining Long Islanders for over 30 years. The orchestra has a sparkling sound of a swing band playing the music of Broadway, the Great American Song Book and New Orleans Dixieland, which is featured at the Islip Arts Council Jazz Fest.

Easy Street @ Bayard Cutting Arboretum
Easy Street is a 5pc Classic/Southern Rock and Blues band that formed in September 2005. their repertoire of music is guaranteed to get your feet a tappin' and a slappin' on the dance floor. The program will consist of 2 sets of songs ranging from the 1950's to the present. Lori Anne will set the mood with smokey renditions of Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools" and Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" along with Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats". Paul will rock the grounds with various songs from The Beatles, Chuck Berry, The Rascals, The Rolling Stones, The Doobie Brothers, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, The Allman Brothers and Santana, just to name a few. NY Most Dangerous Big Band @ Sayville Common Ground
From Gershwin to Sinatra, from Nat King Cole to Santana, to Norah Jones and beyond - from "Georgia on My Mind" to "New York State of Mind" - New York's Most Dangerous Big Band brings that traditional Big Band sound to over 200 tunes in their formidable repertoire. The NYMDBB are as capable a group as you are likely to find in any aggregation. Long Island Tuba Quartet @ Bayshore Bandshell
The Long Island Tuba Quartet was formed in 1986 to perform at the SCMEA (Suffolk County Music Educator Association) annual Tuba Day, now known as Howard Hovey Tuba Day. From there, LITQ began performing music in concerts and at parties. 14 years later, they still play at Tuba Day and also perform several concerts each year. LITQ will perform music in various styles such as classic, marches, pop, movie music, jazz and rock. A good time will be had by all, especially LITQ.Yellow Line @ Bayshore Bandshell
Bringing classic rock of yesterday with a nice blend of Southern Rock, aggressive Folk and popular music. Performed covers for Bob Dylan, CCR, Tom Petty, Neil Young and more. A solid guitar-rock hurricane of the grates.Blue Detour @ Bay Shore Band Shell
The band features both traditional and more modern Bluegrass Music done with a local Northeastern flavor. Four native Long Islanders who really enjoy playing music together. Blue Detour music features tight lead and harmony singing blended together with skillful musicianship on our instruments. They perform traditional bluegrass music combined with harmony vocals. Sprinkled within the program will be instrumentals that will provide toe-tapping entertainment for the attendees. Theo Torres @ Brentwood Library
Latin Sounds in Big Band Styles Bring your dancing shoes. Like other traditional musicians, Theo plays a wide variety of music styles common in Central and South America in order to satisfy diverse audiences. Torres plays salsa, techno cumbia, Peruvian musica criolla, Mexican rancheras and Dominican bachatas together with Vientos del Sur (Winds of the South), a group he founded in 2000. Theo became an American citizen in 2000 and now resides in Brentwood. In 2005, Theo was awarded an apprenticeship grant by the New York State Council on the Arts as a master composer and musician. He is also a master teacher in Long Island Traditions' arts-in-education programs.
