Robert Moses Field 5 is a small beach. Erosion has taken a lot of the beach away, however, it's still one of the nicest beaches. The boardwalk is colse to the beach as well as the concession so it's a short walk. There are lifeguards in the swimming areas during the open season. There is an area for Surf Fishing. If you feel like being adventurous, take a walk to the Fire Island Light House! It's a nice walk on a boardwalk through the dune area beside field 5. The entrance is right off the parking area to the left.
*** This beach was closed for most of 2009 due to erosion. Directions: 48 miles from Manhattan, via Southern State Parkway to Robert Moses Causeway (exit 40), south to Park at western end of Fire Island. Once you reach the pencil, veer around it towards the left. Field 4 is the frst beach on the left (beach side).Park Information
